Our Name

Why Sapphire?

Sapphire may seem like an unlikely name for a psychotherapy clinic. Many of us may already know that the sapphire is considered a precious gemstone and is the birthstone for those born in the month of September. However, through a little research we discovered that sapphires have been used for centuries to provide mental acuity and promote good health.

Today, the sapphire’s most common perception is as the stone of wisdom and learning. Sapphires are also said to be able to calm nerves which aids in bringing about order, mental clarity and healing of the mind. Allegedly, sapphires enhance our ability to see beneath surface appearances to underlying truths and to utilize that knowledge to gain a better understanding of self. It is believed that sapphires can be used to increase self-motivation and discipline, as well as to bring about calm energies when the mind is busy. According to some, sapphires release mental tension, depression, unwanted thoughts and confusion. Sapphires restore mental balance, stimulate concentration, bring serenity, peace of mind, and a positive attitude toward life.

Whether you subscribe to these perceptions or not, isn’t this what we are really striving for? Therefore…. SAPPHIRE! (Seems somewhat appropriate.)
